Sorbent Applications
Oil Only - Usually hydrophobic (water repellent), oil only sorbents are
designed to ignore
water based chemicals and concentrate on absorbing oil based liquids. This makes
them ideal for
cleanup of waterborne spills or anywhere rapid cleanup of oil is needed. All
of our oil only pads
will float indefinitely and are commonly placed within a contained spill for
oil and sheen removal.
Oil only pads are color coded white, or blue for easy identification purposes.
General Purpose
- These nondiscriminate sorbents will suck up most any liquid.
Great for
the shop environment where a variety of oil based and/or water based products
coexist. The
polypropylene is treated to produce a hydrophilic (water attracting) sorbent
ready to absorb mixed
or single liquids. General Purpose pads are color coded gray.
Hazardous Material - Some of the more aggressive chemicals and liquids need a sorbent
chemically treated to prevent disintegration and/or the release of absorbed
medium. Acids and bases are two prime candidates for hazardous sorbents. Typically
any product with a pH below 3 or above 12 will require hazardous labeled sorbents.
These are general rules of thumb and you must take the responsibility in determining
your specific requirements, Advanced Environmental Solutions spill response
experts will be glad to help in determining the sorbent best for you.
Hazardous Material pads are color coded green.
