Sorbent
Construction
Melt-Blown Sorbents
- Strands of hydrophobic (oil only sorbents) polypropylene fibers are
blown onto a template to form the sorbent sheets. These sheets are then cooled
and cut to produce sorbent rolls or sheets. Our melt-blown sorbents can absorb
approximately 20 times their own weight. Oil-only melt-blown sorbents will float
indefinitely, are not affected by temperature, and are also flame resistant.
Melt-blown sorbents can be ordered to meet static resistant specifications.
Sonic Bonded Sorbents These low-lint sorbents are manufactured by ultrasonically bonding two layers of melt-blown sorbents. Sonic bonding produces a sorbent with greater strength than melt-blown construction and lower lint properties. Several different models exist to absorb oils, hydrocarbons, hazardous, aggressive fluids, and water-based chemicals and hydrocarbons.
Air Laid Sorbents
Produced using a state-of -the-art process
resulting in a 100% polypropylene sorbent. Thousands of small polypropylene
fibers are ultrasonically bonded between two layers of high strength spunbond
fabric. This style of manufacturing produces a sorbent higher in strength than
traditional construction and with more absorbency due to the increased surface
area around the fibers.
Air laid sorbents are also lint free. Available as oil-only and
general-purpose pads and rolls. Manufactured as double weight only.
Laminated Sorbents
Combining the absorbent properties of melt-blown
products with the strength of air laid construction, laminated construction
is the strongest line of lint free spunbond fabric.
Manufactured by ultrasonically bonding a high-loft melt-blown sorbent
between two layers of lint-free spunbond fabric. Being lint-free enables
this product to be used as a wipe while reducing the possibility of contaminating
your product.
Fine Fiber Sorbents These sorbents consist of two layers of fine fiber polypropylene ultrasonically bonded around a high-loft melt-blown core. This style of construction produces pads and rolls with the highest absorbency rate of all our sorbents. Fine fiber sorbents are the most versatile style available.
